Missiles belongs to the arcade game genre and the main objective of the game is to avoid hundreds of incoming missiles towards your plane and last as long as possible by controlling the airplane with all sorts of maneuvers. The game uses on screen touch and motion sensors to control the movement of the airplane. The game begins with a difficulty level that might put some people off and increase as you progress further is very high but do not be discouraged as this is where all the fun starts. So buckle up and get ready to dodge some missiles.
1. The Missiles
As the name suggests this game involves missiles, missiles and more missiles. Every time you start a new game, your plane will immediately start being chased by a missile. This missile doesn’t disappear for around 15 seconds and if its hits you then game over and you will have to start all over again. After this more missiles start appearing and you will need to start performing tricky maneuvers with your plane in order to dodge them. Rolling away and twisting out of the path of the missiles always helps. Another great way when there are a lot of missiles is to make them crash into each other thus eliminating a lot of heat from your tail.
2. Collecting the Stars
The missiles are present to distract you from your main objective in the game which is to collect as many stars as possible before you get hit. These stars are scattered randomly throughout the levels and mostly only one star appears at a time. However sometimes you might find two or more stars next to each other but this will always be at a time when it will be dangerous for you to collect them due to the missiles after you. Collecting these stars will greatly increase your overall score at the end of the game.
3. The Powerups
The game mechanics are against you in every way but Missiles does offer some comfort to the player in the form of powerups at each level. The randomly placed shield powerup will cause a bubble to appear around your plane and will block the next missile to hit you. In order to score higher, you need to save this powerup for a moment where your plane getting hit is truly unavoidable.
4. Game Modes
Missiles has two game modes Normal and Fast. The Fast mode is in place for experienced players who have mastered control of the plane. In Fast mode the speed and number of missiles is double that of the Normal mode. Both game modes have their separate scoring systems and you will be rated differently on the leaderboards according to the game mode that you were playing.
